Top 25 from Week 8

Week 8 ended again with an upset in Monday Night Football with the Chiefs sneaking by the Chargers. The Top 25 points scorers in a standard Yahoo! Public League did not contain as many surprises as last week's, Top 25 from Week 7. Here's the the list:

For a fourth week in a row, the top spot for the week belongs to a running back. This week LeSean McCoy was the top overall scorer followed by a trio of elite running backs in Steven Jackson, Adrian Peterson and Ray Rice. Cam Newton was right behind them at #5 and led all quarterbacks for Week 8 with 24.9 points.

The major surprises of this week are Laurent Robinson, Curtis Painter, Scott Chandler, Brent Celek and Curtis Brinkley making the list at #16, #19, #22, #23 and #24 respectively. All of them had unexpected games out of nowhere with the exception of Brent Celek who had his second good game in a row, but is in no way a top tight end this season. None of them should be expected to be on this list consistently at all just as the surprises in Week 7 (Tim Tebow, DeMarco Murray, Darren Sproles and Plaxico Burress) did not make it into this week's list. Tebow (terrible actual game but good fantasy numbers) and Murray (was unable to take full advantage of the matchup against the Eagles rush defense) were expected back on this list, but they failed to make it with Tebow barely missing at #28.

As usual for Yahoo! leagues, quarterbacks have a large presence at the top thanks to the scoring format and everybody should keep this in mind when looking at the numbers from some of the quarterbacks in the bottom range.
